Steven Katz is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Seneca Mortgage, leading the operational and financial strategies of the company and its core business strategy of acquiring and managing mortgage servicing rights (MSRs), while also overseeing and managing the company’s subsidiaries. Since the inception of Seneca Mortgage, Mr. Katz has overseen the company’s growth to a Top 30 Servicer in the U.S. In his role as CIO, he is responsible for all equity and warehousing capital markets activities as well as agency and investor relations.
Prior to the joint venture that formed Seneca Mortgage, Mr. Katz was the Chief Investment Officer of Arbor Residential Mortgage, LLC (ARM) and its subsidiary, AMS Servicing, LLC (now Seneca Mortgage Servicing), where he was responsible for managing and monitoring the company’s investment portfolio. He joined ARM in 2008 and focused on growing AMS’ third-party and special servicing capabilities while positioning the firm within the capital markets and agency industries to expand its platform to include prime servicing.
Mr. Katz has more than 20 years of residential mortgage and asset-backed experience prior to Seneca Mortgage Management. During his career he has also served as Managing Director of Credit and Whole Loan Trading at Nomura Credit and Capital, Inc. (NCCI), was a Director at Deutsche Bank Securities on the Asset / Mortgage-Backed Trading Desk, and held similar roles at Credit Suisse First Boston and Morgan Stanley.
